San Antonio Introduces Downtown Bike-Share Program

(Media release on behalf of the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau)

With its natural beauty, temperate weather, and historic attractions, San Antonio has long been a favorite destination for bike and outdoor enthusiasts. Now the city has introduced B-cycle, Texas’ first bike-share program and a green alternative to traditional public transit. San Antonio is one of eight locations across the United States to implement the innovative program, joining cities such as Denver and Chicago.

With stations located at 14 convenient spots throughout downtown San Antonio, B-cycle offers an easy access way to tour the city’s most popular destinations while still enjoying the great outdoors. Day visitors can purchase a 24-hour pass, while memberships can be purchased for a period of one week up to one year. Enjoy early morning vistas or evening exploration? Bikes can be checked out daily between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m., and returned to any B-cycle station at any time. For more information, visit http://www.sanantonio.bcycle.com.

San Antonio also has much to offer for visitors who prefer to bring their own bikes. Hike and bike maps featuring popular routes including the Mission Trail and Museum Reach are available for visitors who wish to explore the city’s outdoor highlights. The city also offers a dedicated website packed full of helpful trail information including directions, photos and bike rack locations. To learn more, visit http://www.sanantonio.gov/oep/sabikes.
